What is BSC-Clubs?
BSC-Clubs is a free web hosting service for online gaming clubs. Features include messageboards, rosters, enlistment, polls, awards, and statistics from BattleStats.com.
The look of your club's site can be fully customized to achieve a unique look. It's all in one place and you don't need any programming expertise or web design software to get your club up and running. Your club's site can be completely created and maintained from web pages.
How do I start?
- The first thing you need is a BSC player profile. If you already have a BSC player profile then you are ready for the next step. If not, then go here to create a BSC Player Profile.
- Next, you need a BSC Club profile. If you already have a BSC Club profile then you are ready for the next step. If not, then go here to create a BSC Club profile.
- The last thing you need to get started is to mark your club as a BSC-Clubs Club. Go to the Signup! page to create your Web Space for your BattleStats Club.
What are the features?
- Rosters - See all the members of your club listed automatically with email and ICQ links.
- Message Boards - Public and private boards are both available. You can create multiple boards for your club. Board management is all done from one page. Look for more features in the future.
- News - Keep your club informed with automated News bulletins. Just add a new story and you're done. You can even edit old stories or remove them. The system automatically archives old news to keep your pages loading fast.
- Customizeable Pages - If you want to add special pages that don't require scripting, you can do that too, all from your web browser. Links will be created for you automatically. You can also remove custom pages.
- Flash Files - You can use flash files to give your site that extra pizzazz. Flash file uploads count towards your 20MB storage limit.
- Images - Upload images to your clubs site for use in customized pages. You will be able upload up to 20MB of images all from your browser.
- Customizeable Look - Instantly change the look of your entire site from one page. You can change the colors of the page background, left navigation area, table headings, rows, three different fonts, links, and visited links. You can also change some of your font properties including face and size.
- Client-side Java and VB-Script - Java and VB-Script will work on your web pages. Just put the script in your customized pages and your set to go. There is no space limit on customized pages.
- Navigation - Find the default a bit dull? You can put your own navigation area on all your pages on the left, top, right, or bottom.
- Polls - Create polls to find out what your club really wants. They can be public or private.
- Club Webmaster - Give limited admin privaledges to your club webmaster.
- Club Admin(s) - Give limited admin privaledges to your club leaders.
- Club Co-leader(s) - Your co-leader(s) can do everything you can, except mess with your privaledges.
What features will you be adding in the future?
- Enlistment - No more going back and forth between your site and BSC for your roster. Enlistment will all be on your site and your BSC profile will be updated automatically.
- BSC Stats - See all the stats from BSC on your clubs site.
- Internal Events - Host your own ladders and tournaments right on your club's site. You can even make them private so that only members of your club can look at them.
- Club Mailing List - Email your entire club from one page. Great for Newsletters.
- Member Ranks - If your club follows a military structure, use automated system for your rank names, images, and promotions.
- Awards - Give out awards for club members that go the extra mile.
Got any questions?
- Can I get FTP access? - No. All the content of your site will be done through web pages.
- Can I get email accounts? - No. You will need to use other services (such as hotmail) for email accounts.
- Can I use my own CGI scripts? - No. Embedding CGI scripts (ASP, PERL, PHP, etc) will not work. And you can't upload scripts.
- Can I get my own database? - No. All the database functionality is already built in.
- Do I need to know HTML or programming? - No. You can create your entire site with no HTML knowledge.
- Will BSC-Clubs monitor my club? - BSC-Clubs will not interfere in anyway with the running of your club unless content on your site is against the Terms of Use. Private Message Boards will have as much freedom as any other boards offered on the net.
- Will I be charged for using BSC-Clubs? - The services are offered for free. The only catch is the ad banner that appears at the top of all the pages. That is how we pay for the server and Web Space.
- Can I get rid of the Ad Banner? - No. See above.
- Can I get my own domain name (like tra.battlestats.com) - There are currently no plans for offering true domain names.
- Can I get rid of that BSC-Clubs logo at the top of the page? - Yes. This can be turned off under the settings tab of your admin area.
- Does my club have to be registered at www.battlestats.com? - We will soon be adding an option to create and run your club exclusively at BSC-Clubs as well as not listing your club at BSC.
